NOTICE OF JOINT PUBLIC HEARING ON PETITION TO
ANNEX TERRITORY IN THE TOWN OF CORNWALL TO THE VILLAGE
OF CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON PURSUANT TO GENERAL MUNICIPAL LAW ARTICLE 17

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a petition (the "Petition") by the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson (the "Petitioners"), pursuant to General Municipal Law Article 17, has been received by the Town Board of the Town of Cornwall, New York (the "Town") and the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York (the "Village") for the annexation of the following described territory situated in the Town to the Village consisting of two (2) tax parcels totaling approximately forty ( 40) acres in size: 45 and 100 Pecks Road, Cornwall, New York with a Tax Map designation of Section 32, Block 1, Lot(s) 8.1 & 8.2.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that on February 8, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. a joint public hearing on the Petition will be held virtually by the Town and the Village. It shall be deemed to be conducted at the Town of Cornwall Town Hall, 183 Main Street, Cornwall, New York 12518. At such time, all persons interested in the matter shall be heard to consider whether the form of the Petition is satisfactory, whether the proposed annexation is in the overall public interest, and whether there are any issues related to environmental significance under the State Environmental Quality Review Act associated with the proposed annexation. Objections based upon any grounds regarding the form of the Petition [as set forth in General Municipal Law Section
705(l)(a), (b), (c) or (d)] shall, in addition to the presentation of any oral testimony thereon, be submitted in writing on or before the date of the hearing. Copies of the annexation petition with the Environmental Assessment Form will be posted on both municipal websites, or can be requested by contacting the Village Clerk at [email protected] or Town Clerk at [email protected]
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that due to public health and safety
concerns related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this joint public hearing between the Village
and Town Board will NOT be conducted in person. In accordance with the Governor's
Executive Order 202.1 and subsequent orders extending and modifying the same, the
February 8, 2021 joint public hearing will be held remotely via video conferencing and
telephone conference call. A transcript will be available at a later date. The public will have
the opportunity to hear the meeting live and provide comments at the same time.

on this annexation, which must be received no later than 5 :00 pm on February 8, 2021.
Written comments can be mailed to either Town Hall or Village Hall, or e-mailed to
either Clerk at the e-mail addresses noted above.
The Village and Town will make every effort to assure that the hearing is accessible to
persons with disabilities. Anyone requiring special assistance and/or reasonable
accommodations should contact either the Village or Town Clerk.

  • On November 12th at 7 pm at the Firehouse the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson’s Comprehensive Plan Committee presented an overview of the Draft Comprehensive Plan. The Plan has progressed considerably, and a draft can be found on the Village website HERE.
  • The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department is requesting that all residents please ensure that they lock their vehicle(s) when not in use. Also, please don't leave any valuable items inside your vehicle or leave items in your vehicle in plain sight to others..  
  • Effective Immediately: The collection facility the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Department of Public Works, uses for our recycling drop off are no longer accept recycling in plastic bags. We ask that you please place your recycling in reusable containers for our crew to collect curbside. Your cooperation and assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

  • Donahue Memorial Park: Parking & Boat Launch Permits
    While Village Hall doors are closed during the pandemic, people can obtain parking and boat launch permits through the mail. Parking Permit Application forms are located on the Village website under the tab for Village Clerk. You can return the application form, a copy of the vehicle and/or trailer registration, and fee in an envelope and place in the drop box marked “BILLS” on the parking lot side of Village Hall.
  • Day Passes are available at Village Hall and several Village businesses including Village Pizza (845-534-3600).
    Visitors may also obtain Day Passes through the ParkMobile App, which is available by cell phone. Village police can monitor whether a car has a pass by checking the car’s license plate.
    Parking is allowed only in designated spaces. Cars without permits or passes are subject to ticketing and towing. When a car is towed, the driver should call the Town of Cornwall dispatcher (845-534-8100) to request that a Village Police Officer contact him/her.
    Cornwall-on-Hudson encourages people outside of the greater Cornwall area to use their parks during the pandemic.
  • The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department has placed, "Please Maintain 6 Foot Social Distancing At All Times", signs at all local open businesses within the Village. Maintaining a safe distance of at least 6 feet from one another can help prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus. On behalf of the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department, "Please Stay Safe and Healthy!"
